Surveys

The Bermuda Health Council has developed numerous health system surveys for a range of purposes, from assessing health services to measuring quality of care and quality of life. Many of these surveys are intended for the general population, but can be tailored to specific groups, such as caregivers, health professionals and families.

This section provides stakeholders with information about ongoing or upcoming surveys on health system matters.  Information is updated regularly and key stakeholders are notified via email.  If you do not receive our emails and would like to, please subscribe here.

This survey is focused on the proposed inspection criteria and evidence of compliance for the licensing of health service providers.

This survey seeks your feedback on your ability to comply with the proposed criteria and where you are unable to comply, details about the potential resources needed to be able to comply.

The Bermuda Health Council is inviting feedback on proposed updates to the Pharmacy and Poisons Act. These changes aim to improve how drug schedules are managed and introduce a General Sales List (GSL) allowing certain medications to be sold without a prescription at approved non-pharmacy retailers.

Consultation

The Bermuda Health Council is increasing transparency in Bermuda’s health system. We work with patients, stakeholders and the public to improve the health outcomes for people in Bermuda. We conducted interviews as part of a normative health needs assessment of Bermuda based on the lived experiences of its clergy. This was in support of the Joint Strategy Needs Assessment by providing a ground up view of health needs. It also supports the development of community-based initiatives to address health needs and reduce health inequity in Bermuda.

We conducted a Health Needs Assessment and Current State Assessment of dementia services in Bermuda to identify the current and projected dementia care needs for families and persons living with dementia. This review was used to support the development of an integrated care pathway (for the Ministry of Youth, Social Development & Seniors) which will ultimately help in planning, directing, and delivering effective dementia care, education/training and wrap around support services, ensuring that persons living with dementia and their families needs are met effectively.

Key Stakeholders: physicians, hospitalists, emergency department staff, Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute staff, dedicated memory care nursing home staff, day activity staff, geriatricians

As part of the consultation around licensing of health service providers, we invited health businesses and health professionals to provide valuable feedback on proposed the principles of licensure – safety, effectiveness, responsiveness, caring and well-led.

The Bermuda Health Council is engaging in strategic planning, and sought the feedback of local health service providers on our performance and the perception of our organization.

Note: the survey was conducted and the results were analyzed by the Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda to ensure an independent review and reporting of the findings to the Bermuda Health Council Board.

We are developing a comprehensive health workforce strategy aimed at addressing current and future healthcare needs in an aging population in Bermuda. This strategy will focus on ensuring an adequate, well-trained, and motivated health workforce to deliver high-quality healthcare services and meet the evolving healthcare needs in Bermuda.

Key Stakeholders: Healthcare providers, professional associations, educational institutions, Bermuda Hospitals Board and patient representatives.
