We monitor the performance of regulated health professionals by asking the statutory boards to submit annual self-assessments on their complaints and disciplinary procedures. Having the statutory bodies evaluate themselves encourages transparency and accountability, and helps to ensure that Bermuda has well-trained and qualified health professionals to deliver quality care.

Annually we publish National Health Accounts (NHA) which tracks how much money flows into and around the health system. The data used to develop NHA is collected from various external stakeholders and is analysed using a standard framework for tracking resources which allows us to compare ourselves with OECD countries.

Prior to compiling the full NHA, the initial data collection and analysis can be found here.

Health & Technology Review (HTR)

A Health Technology Review (HTR) is a systematic multidisciplinary evaluation of the effect and impact a health technology or service will have on the island’s health system. The Health Council conducts HTR evaluations as requested by external stakeholders, i.e. insurance companies, health service providers, and government bodies. The Health Council researches information on other jurisdictions, analyzes local data, and convenes a committee of subject matter experts to opine on the topic selected. A guidance document is produced that highlights the findings and recommendations made. This report is written with the intent to inform decision making and educating the public on the services and technologies operating within their community.

For any clarification or requests for HTRs, please email healthcouncil@bhec.bm

Have suggestions on publications? Submit your suggestion below.

The Health Council regularly receives and analyzes data from health system stakeholders as part of a particular request or as part of our routine system review processes.  In support of our mandate to educate the public on health system matters, we occasionally publish data analyses and reports on system trends, the links for which can be found below. Suggestions for data analysis may be submitted using the online Data Analytics Suggestion Form.

Please note, submissions will not be acknowledged individually and suggestions are not guaranteed to be acted on.  Selected analyses will be published in the table below.
