Bermuda Health Council Seeks Feedback from Health Professionals on Proposed Regulations

[Hamilton, Bermuda, 22 August 2024] – The Bermuda Health Council reminds local health businesses and health professionals that the deadline to submit written feedback on the proposed regulations for high-risk health technology and health service provider licensing is 5th September. Key documents were emailed on the 13th and 16th August to health businesses and professional statutory bodies and are also available on the Health Council social media pages.

Licensing is crucial for ensuring that Bermuda’s health entities meet industry standards, and regulating high-risk health technologies ensures that the devices and equipment used in our healthcare settings are safe, effective, and of the highest quality. Similar regulations exist in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia thereby setting a global benchmark.

The Health Council is committed to initiatives to guarantee the quality, safety, and efficacy of services and products used by our population. This commitment is reinforced through collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to continuously strengthen our regulatory capacity for high-risk health technology and health business standards.

The following key documents have already been sent via email on 13th and 16th August to health businesses and professional statutory bodies and are available on the Health Council’s Facebook and Instagram pages:

  1. Consultation Slides: Bermuda Health Council Amendment (No. 2) Act 2024: provides a high-level overview of the components of the draft legislation
  2. Overview: HRHT Regulations and HSP Regulations: provides a more detailed look at the individual parts of the draft regulations.
